October CyberSec Workshops

During the week of October 18th 2021, the North American Cyber Range Alliance (NACRA) will offer a series of hands-on interactive cybersecurity workshops AT NO COST. The intent is to expose those interested in cybersecurity careers and those with experience in the field to the professional challenges that nation state and criminal adversaries present to those protecting our nation.

Everyone is eligible to participate, including those in high schools, higher education, business/public professional practitioners, invited guests and the the community. These interactive workshops are made possible without cost through the generosity of 'Participating NACRA Organizations', and NACRA's 'Preferred Range Partners'.

Cybersecurity Entrepreneur Challenge
[RESTRICTED TO IDAHO RESIDENTS]

This is a statewide cybersecurity challenge for teams of students to work on / solution "problem statements" from local industry partners. This is the first year of such effort so the challenge is localized to Idhao only. In subsequent years, we intend to open this challenge up to other student teams.

Cybersecurity Exploration

Interested in exploring cybersecurity? This workshop will introduce students to the world of cybersecurity. It will include hands-on labs, with real-world scenarios, using cybersecurity tools.

Cyber Defense Clinic

Cisco offers a unique opportunity for individuals to work with an advanced set of automated, integrated cybersecurity technologies. Participants will see popular hacking tools in action and gain experience defending critical data.
Ready for a hands-on experience that teaches why you need security solutions? Cisco offers labs with topics that include ransomware, web exploitation, and insider threat defense. Technologies include Cisco, Splunk, Radware, IBM, and Rapid7.

Cyber in Education

This workshop provides an examination of teaching methodologies in cybersecurity and information technology at the K-12 level. Participants will discover entry level methodologies to bring cybersecurity into the classroom environment. A panel discussion with education and cyber experts will take place at the end for specific Q&A.

Tuesday, 10/19 Workshop

Alphaville Capture the Flag [CTF]

Completely renovated since last year, the Alphaville CTF is a gamified cyber security experience in the Michigan Cyber Range Alphaville environment. All scoring maps back to the NIST framework through established KSAs.



Wednesday, 10/20 Workshop

Workshop: Enlighten the Path to the CyberSecurity career

The workshop introduces the students to the Cyber Security courses, certifications, and career paths. They will also learn about current market salaries and the best steps to take in order to get an entry level jobs. There will also be a small entertaining quiz about Cyber Phishing and Social engineering topics.

EMCC & GCC K-12 Cybersecurity Inquiry for Students and Teachers

Morning session for students:
EMCC & GCC onsite, hands-on, activities with tutorials, tools, CTF and other cyber education resources. Includes remote hybrid challenges for high school students. Administrators and faculty are encouraged to observe.



Afternoon session for administrators & faculty: Presentation on available resources for teaching cyber in the K-12 environment, EMCC NETLAB+ sandboxed labs overview, GCC Cyber Cave overview, and Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence Scholars presentation with the University of Arizona.
